Concept decides intent: what the work is for, and what it must never become. Everything downstream refers back to this.
Design fixes proportion and detail — the drawing that a stranger could build from. Engineering answers the questions the drawing raises: loads, fixings, movement, drainage, tolerances.
Fabrication is where tolerance lives or dies. Jigs, trial assembly, continuous welds — the workshop either holds the drawing or it does not, and there is no hiding it at installation.
Finishing protects the work for decades; installation respects the site. A two-day install of a gate that took three weeks to build is not slow — it is the point. Precision is prepared in the workshop and revealed on site.
